The Noble Values

By: Sheikh Safwat Jaafar
Translated by: Khaled Farid, Montreal

In the name of Allah the Compassionate the Most Merciful and praise to his Prophet Muhammad, the truthful messenger.

A Lord you are and all others are but nothing
By your side they all sought refuge

Generous, sublime, lenient Imam. Your moral values are the noblest, The beloved PBUH teaches us the noble values; in this connection he tells us: "I was sent to complete the noble values". The noble values are made up of two parts: Hidden values and apparent values.

Let's start by defining the hidden values, those that govern our dealings with Almighty Allah, Blessed be His name. Among Allah’s names we find "The Hidden" and the “Apparent ". All moral values must therefore contain a hidden aspect and an apparent aspect.

The hidden aspect of moral values is that which pushes the human being to rise to his original state. To understand this, take the example of migratory birds leaving Europe to lay their eggs in Africa. Once in Africa, they will lay their eggs and eventually, their offspring will experience an instinctive nostalgia for the original habitat of its parents.

As far as we are concerned, the original habitat of our parents is not on Earth, it is in Heaven, where Allah created Sayyidina Adam. Our souls and our bodies thus experience this instinctive longing for the place where they were created. This is called "spiritual elevation of values", because noble values are a characteristic of the final stage of the journey to Allah, which is "Al Ihsan". It is to "Al Ihsan" that noble values belong and that is where they originated. The means of acquiring them are known: Dhikr and salawats on the Prophet PBUH.

The apparent, visible moral values are superficial at best, unless they are supported by hidden values. So, if I have an eminent morality in my interactions with others, these values must first be anchored in my, my soul. For the apparent moral values of the person to be sincere, they must be manifestations of the values of the soul.

Nothing teachesthe soul the noble values like  dhikr and salwats on the Prophet PBUH. If you wish to acquire the noble moral values of the Prophet SAWS, offer him salawats. Follow the example of Sayyidina Kaab Ibn Malik whom Prophet PBUH encouraged  to spend his whole day doing salawats to him, so that his sins would be forgiven and his concerns would wash away.

The Prophet PBUH taught us courtesy with Allah, he taught us the fear of Allah. He was the first to do dhikr because he received the command: "And call on the name of your Lord and devote yourself totally to Him" (Al Muzzamil: 8). "To devote oneself completely to Him" means to call his name at all times. The Prophet SAWS sometimes wandered around the streets of Mecca during the night, repeating "Allah, Allah," and the disbelievers ended ip saying, "The God of Muhammad made him lose his mind."

Abundant dhikr is valuable due to the fact that it teaches you good manners with Allah; for when you mention Allah, Allah in turn mentions you. The reward of dhikr is neither Paradise nor hasanats, it is the fact that Allah remembers you and mentions your name. Once Allah has mentioned you in the Supreme Assembly, the reward of the attributes of Allah will be yours; and what is the way to get your hands on this reward? It is by walking through the attributes, by advancing through the attributes and names of Allah and learning their mysteries. Once you have mastered the mysteries of Allah’s names and attributes, you will become one of those who are mentioned in the hadith: "I will be his ear his hand, etc." ". Here are the hidden noble values that the Messenger of Allah PBUH was the first to master, and so he deserved the praise of Allah in the Qur'an: "You are certainly of a sublime morality." Sublimity being that of the attributes and names of Allah, blessed be His name, which became those of the Prophet SAWS.

Once those noble values have become anchored in your soul,, these noble values will be reflected in your actions and interactions with all creatures in the universe, living or inanimate. It is for this reason that the Prophet SAWS was loved by the entire universe; men, beasts or tree trunk. This is also the reason why Allah granted him the distinction of being "of a sublime morality"

Hizb of the Sword

Hizb of the Sword About this Hizb, Sidi Fakhr al-Din (RA) said: "This is the highest praise of God there is." He mentioned that this invocation (Hizb) belonged to the Prophet (SAW), who  entrusted it to Imam Ali (S). He said in essence that the Messenger of God (SAW) dictated the Hizb to Imam Ali (KAW), who wrote with his own hand. When our master, Ali (SA) retired  (for the night,) a king of the jinn introduced himself secretly and grabbed Imam Ali’s copy .... Why did he do this? The answer can be found in the same circumstances that led the Prophet (PBUH) to teach this hizb to Imam Ali. The Prophet ordered the latter to fight the jinn at the  well of Alamayn. The case was so serious in the eyes of the Prophet (SAW) that he asked the angel Gabriel to bring him the Hizb of the Sword (al-Hizb al Saifi). After receiving it, he taught it to Imam Ali. He named the Hizb, “Hizb Yamani”, i.e. the Hizb that is like a shield that we hold in our rig...

J’ai répondu:” Mais je ne connais pas la médecine, mais il a insisté et j’ai commencé a executer immediatememt ses ordres. Or, il y’avait à Khartoum a l’époque un homme atteint de folie.
